I am a certified tutor and educator from Croatia, currently based in Panama City, FL (#militaryspouse).
I hold a Masters Degree in Economics and Business and have 12 years' experience in teaching and tutoring thousands of students.
I specialize in macroeconomics, microeconomics, algebra and Croatian language!
ABOUT MARTINA
Martina is an expert in Economics with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Economics and Business.
She is also an experienced educator and tutor in Mathematics.
She teaches Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, College Algebra, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, Principles of Economics, College Microeconomics, and College Macroeconomics.
She provides tutoring for all ages: middle school, high school, college, and adults.
Martina started her tutoring career over 10 years ago, after graduating from a Mathematical High School in Europe. She also holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Economics.
While in Croatia, she tutored college students in groups of up to 12 at Štreberaj, a private school for tutoring. She created custom curriculum that included syllabuses, lesson plans, practice problems and homework worksheets. Along with that, she continued tutoring students of all ages individually.
Since moving to the United States, Martina has been tutoring via Wyzant and Varsity Tutors, before starting her own business – Study Buddy Tutoring. Being a native Croatian speaker, she started teaching Croatian language as well. She has also created her own detailed curriculum, syllabus, and materials that are adjustable to each learner’s level.
She has taught hundreds of students who were extremely grateful for the help she provided. Martina would go above and beyond to ensure student’s success.
TEACHING STYLE
What Martina has to say about her teaching style:
“My students often feel like a friend explained the material to them and now they understand it perfectly. My goal is to help students understand concepts from a simple perspective. My motto is ‘if you can’t simplify something – you don’t really understand it.’ So, I give my students explanations of math and economic theories in a simple way – in so called ‘normal words,’ it’s all about understanding!”
While preparing students for their tests, her experience helps her assess what the student is struggling with the most. She creates a personalized learning plan for each individual student. She helps students improve their knowledge and competence at their own pace. She teaches them study techniques and tricks in order to understand the material better. She guides them to draw conclusions from the studied material.
She also helps students with their homework. Some students find homework confusing or hard to understand if the topic wasn’t covered well enough in school. However, it turns out to be pretty easy when presented to students one-on-one in great detail, which is exactly what Martina does best. Martina will assess the student’s progress throughout the tutoring sessions, and communicate it to their parents (if requested). Most importantly for her, students often develop a love for Math, Economics and Croatian, as they realized it wasn’t so hard after all.
